Weird things that the ants living in my apartment seem to particularly like:
1. Robitussin DM
2. Marmite
3. Turkey ham
Today, received my box of Norwegian foods from NordicHouse...I won't open it until I've sent my application letters. Hopefully tomorrow.

Did you get some delicious lutefisk?* Or perhaps just some vodka.
*shudder
I haven't seen ants in ages. I wonder you get them in the UK?
Have you given the little guys names yet?
I have to admit that a number of the items involve chocolate. Also some spice concentrate that one adds to red wine to make hot mulled wine, a couple loaves of black bread, that extra-strong kind of licorice that makes your heart race, and--yes--a can of fishballs.
(FYI those are like meatballs, but made of fish. Not balls removed from a fish.)
However, NO lutefisk! Even the "Europe Through the Back Door" series, which advocates trying the weird/gross delicacy of every country one visits, specifically excludes lutefisk. As it should.
My ants hide in TheLimey's laptop case when he visits, and then escape on his desk at home. Perhaps seeking a better source of Marmite.
Most of them refuse to answer to what I call them, which is usually something like "Arg! Not in this box too!" or "Oh no! I've just killed a bunch more by accident!"
Mmmmm . . . jetzt haben wir doch Glühwein-wetter . . .
Perhaps due to not only my exchange experience in Norway, but also my earlier experience living in Germany, I becamse addicted to all kinds of weird licorice. Strong, salty, and even those kind of fizzy ball-shaped crunchy ones. I can't remember which category Tyrkisk Pebber falls under, but I think I liked it.
Didn't order it though--I got those little Salmiak diamonds. Pretty basic strong licorice.
Yum! Natural stimulants!
Salty licorice . . . I might could go for that.
