Okay, today I have a little quiz. Nigh unto a year ago, I was getting ready for my first date with TheLimey, having never yet met him in person.

What song was I playing as I was getting ready?

(A hint: it's dancey. And if you're both snoopy and insightful, you may be able to figure it out.)

(...Oh yeah, I like how on today's post I am the "mad" doctor, whereas on the previous one I was the "good" doctor! Of course, he does know that one of my childhood aspirations was to be a mad scientist, so I guess there's precedent. But it could also be because I made him see a chick flick.)

'The Final Countdown' by Europe

No, I was saving that for our first New Year's Eve, of course! [rolling eyes exasperatedly]

Great; I can tell already that now that song is going to be stuck in my head all day.

Um...God Save the Queen?

You know, I just got "The Final Coundown" OUT of my about a week ago after it having been there for several days. Thanks a bunch for making come back. Good God! The only thing whinier than that synth is the singer's voice!

After all of Liz's sleep deprivation over the last year, perhaps the song she was playing when she got ready was Ultravox's "Sleepwalk."

Sorry about that. The joke kind of back-fired as the tune has been running through my head all day.

Yes, well, now my whole post has been completely diverted from its original intent, so...I think that's called "instant karma".

>sigh<

So far, no one has even guessed any band from my profile, let alone a dancey one. I thought this was way too easy!

(Of course, I also thought that when I was writing the midterm for my class, which gave my students collective white hair.)

Uh...''One Thing Leads to Another?"

It's too bad that I even remember that that song is by The Fixx, which you'll notice is NOT on my profile list.

But I may go play it NOW....

"Small Talk Stinks"?

"My Brain Is In The Cupboard - Above The Kitchen Sink" ASF?

Hmmm... I have to find somewhere to download that track. It can't be half bad with a name like that.

[shakes head in bewilderment]

This has gone so far afield! If I said what the real song is, it would be pretty anticlimactic at this point.

Okay, after viewing your profile and knowing that you were a desparate Scroggin lass, the answer must be:

Adam Ant's "Stand and Deliver!"

Let's hope it wasn't The Damned's "Curtain Call," which is about 13 minutes long. That places more stress on the poor guy than Ravel's "Bolero"!

As it turns out, having "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" stuck in one's head is actually worse than having "The Final Countdown" stuck in one's head.

What are you doing up so late?

And, ICR, at least you don't bear the shame of having kissed David Coverdale.

At least Frinkenstein actually looked at the profile information.

But, c'mon, it was a first date! Sight unseen! I wasn't playing make-out music already. Sheesh. (That would've been the second date.)

No, what I was playing, *of course*, was Kraftwerk's "Computerlove".

(There, now, was that so hard?)

I was up late finishing the first draft of the method section of my dissertation proposal...I have to finish the other parts over the weekend. Yikes! Crunch time again for the next few weeks. ...Months.

You know, I was going to say that -- really! -- but I just didn't think it was that, for some reason.

Must remake that song, BTW.
