Our Primate Past

Explains the answer to a question about chalkboard screeching that I never thought to ask.

(Or were we perhaps intelligently designed to hate chalkboard screeching?!)

Hey, I met Barry Beyerstein (mentioned in that article) last year at the Skeptic's Toolbox.

I'm not as bothered by nails/blackboard as most people are, which is kind of weird since it seems that I can hear higher frequencies than some people can.

The strange thing that always made my spine tingle in a similar manner, though, was when my mom had been making gravy and was wiping out the pan with a paper towel. Isn't that odd?

I too am less bothered by the chalkboard thing--but can barely stand even thinking about touching brushed aluminum (such as some pots and pans are made of).

Ooo, just got goosebumps thinking of it. Eeeh.
